FERNANDO VARGAS V., Director and Screenwriter.

He was born in La Paz, Bolivia, in 1957. Studied filmmaking at Los Angeles City College in California and Television Technology at The American Broadcasting Company (ABC). He also completed a M.Phil. Degree in Screenwriting for Film, Television and Multimedia at the University of Bergen (Norway). Vargas wrote and directed the film Sonia Lima I love you, winner of the “Amalia Gallardo” Award for Best Fiction Film in 1989. He directed for UNESCO the documentary series Para la Vida and the restoration and narrative reconstruction of the Bolivian silent film Wara Wara. He co-directed with Verónica Córdova the film Tierra Adentro, winner of the National Award “Condor de Plata” for Best Film in 1996. Vargas has also worked as Director of Photography, Screenwriter and Editor for several short films and documentaries such as Ajayu, directed by Francisco Ormachea, Trono directed by Verónica Córdova and Martín de las Crujías, directed by Eduardo López.
