On Che's image.
SAY GOOD MORNING TO DAD does not intend to tell Che Guevara's story but the story of the people from Vallegrande. The film presents Che as a mythical character, with no political connotations but with the religious underpinning people from Vallegrande ascribe to him. The intention of the film is not to tell Che´s life story nor to justify, praise or judge his Bolivian campaign. Instead, Che´s dramatic function is to be a catalyzer. Therefore, he is only shown in the film in three occasions: As a corpse that comes down on Vallegrande from heaven and is exposed to the curious eyes of the town's inhabitants; as a skeleton found in a common grave in the town's airfield; and as a mythical soul from the Andean traditions: someone who, upon dying a violent and untimely death, wonders the world as a mediator between heaven and earth.
